Cents winners in Wenatchee 5-2

The Merritt Centennials were winners in Wenatchee tonight 5-2 at Town Toyota Center Saturday Night. Cents goalie Cole Kehler had 34 saves in the win while Chase Perry made 21 saves in the loss.

The Cents were able to make up ground on the Smoke Eaters in the BCHL Interior Division with the win. The Cents play next this upcoming Tuesday,

Brett Jewell had the opening goal of the game with a shorthanded marker 16:19 into the first period. Also in the 1st, Michael Faulkner had his 2rd of the year over an impressive Colin Grannary effort in front of the net.

Wenatchee was able to bring themselves within one, but a minute later the Cents answered back. Mitch Lipon’s powerplay goal came at 6:04 of the middle frame, with Tyler Ward scoring at 13:49 to make it 4-1.

In the 3rd Brandon Puricelli netted a goal but it would be as close as the Wild would come, an empty net Nick Jermain goal ensuring the game.

Head coach Joe Martin was very happy with his teams effort, noting that he couldn’t single out any particular player outside of his goaltender Cole Kehler in the win.

Merritt plays next this upcoming Tuesday, January 19th. Puck Drop is at 7pm, pre game begins on Q101 beginning at 6:45pm.
