Becoming a Merritt Centennials Billet Family
Each season the Centennials welcome young men into the Nicola Valley ranging in age from 16-20. While these young men are in town, they require accommodations, and we are reliant on local families who are generous enough to open their homes to a player or two for the season. Each Centennial is placed with a local family who provides them with a home away from home.
The Billet Family experience creates lasting relationships between our players and their billet families. Centennials serve as great role models not only within the community but for younger family members who can learn from these players. Most Billet Families can look back on their time with players with fond memories, and most consider it to be a highly rewarding experience. Many families stay in contact with Centennials after they move on through university or professional experiences.
Billet Families are financially compensated and receive a season membership for each household member.
The importance of billet families to the Merritt Centennials Hockey Club is immeasurable. Simply put, without the billet families, we could not put a team on the ice. Thank you!
