Cents Looking to Start a Streak with a 7-4 Win Against Salmon Arm

Merritt, BC – January 6, 2012

 

Evan Stack captained the Merritt Centennials to a win against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 7-4 in BC Hockey League action on Friday night at the Sunwave Centre.

 

Both Evan Stack and Brayden Low had a goal and assist each for the Cents (20-10-2-5) while Payton Schaefer, Jakob Reichert, Brent Fletcher, Chad Brears and Dustin Lebrun all scored a goal apiece. Assists for the night also went to Brendan Lamont, Silvan Harper, Regan Soquila, Brandon Pfeil, Reece Willcox, Richard Sabourin, Tyler Martin and Brandon Bruce.  

 

Braden Pears and Morgan Zulinick each earned an unassisted goal for Salmon Arm (13-18-0-6). Gavin Muller and Garrett Hendrickson also scored for the Silverbacks.  

 

Lino Chimienti made 21 saves for Merritt in the win while the goaltending was split for Salmon Arm with 21 saves for starter Kurt Williams and 17 saves for Adam Clark. 

 

The Centennials went 1-for-6 on the power play while the Silverbacks went 0-for-1 on their man advantage opportunities.

 

With the win, the Cents have just six regulation losses in their last 30 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, four points ahead of Prince George and seven ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 19 points behind first place Penticton.

 

The Centennials next game is on Saturday, January 7th against the Vernon Vipers at the Wesblid Centre.
