Cents Goaltender Lino Chimienti Commits to Hobart College

Merritt, BC – July 2, 2012

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce that goaltender Lino Chimenti has accepted an offer to play for Hobart College in Geneva, New York starting with the 2012-13 season.

Chimienti played in 35 games this past season for the Cents and established new personal bests with an 18-14-1 record, a 2.86 goals-against-average, a .907 save percentage and four shutouts. He also went 4-3 in the 2012 playoffs with a 2.65 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage. Chimienti finishes his BCHL career with a 33-30-2 record, a 2.98 goals-against-average, a .901 save percentage and five shutouts in 67 games.  

"We are extremely happy for Lino in his decision to attend Hobart College this fall," said Cents Head Coach & GM Luke Pierce. "Lino is such a dedicated individual that I have no doubt he will excel and be a top goaltender at that level."

Pierce added, "We are also very happy for his family who will now have a greater opportunity to see him play on a more regular basis after four years of only watching his games online."

"Lino will be hugely missed in our dressing room as he was a tremendous leader for us over the past two seasons and we thank him for bringing his maturity, dedication, and talent to Merritt," continued Pierce. "We have no doubt that those attributes will continue to serve him well and he'll find success in which ever path he follows."
