Alumni: Brent Demerais Named GM & Head Coach of VIJHL Oceanside Generals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Parksville, BC – July 4, 2012

The Oceanside Generals are pleased to announce the hiring of Brent Demerais as Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations for the 2012/13 season.

Born and raised in Port Alberni, Demerais comes to our organization after having coached the Alberni Valley Midget division for the past 7 seasons with great success. With more than 13 years of experience as a head coach, his accomplishments include numerous championships and awards. In his 7 years in Port Alberni, he played a great role moving 26 local players to MML, JR A, JR B, NAHL, and the WHL.

Demerais played one season for the Junior B Timbermen and quickly moved up to the Junior A Merritt Centennials. To date, he holds an impressive 28 year team scoring record (2nd that season only to Brett Hull) of 67 goals, 58 assists, 125 points and 189 penalty minutes. His total represents 27% of the total goals the team scored that season. Demerais went on to the WIHL with the Cranbrook Royals.

The Generals are very excited to have Brent join the team. He comes highly recommended and will provide leadership to the organization. His tireless work effort will ensure that all the players will have a chance to be ready to play at the next level.
