Cents Get Clipped in Nanaimo 3-2

Nanaimo goaltender Billy Faust saved 43 Centennials shots as the Nanaimo Clippers defeated the Merritt Centennials 3-2 in BC Hockey League action on Sunday afternoon at the Frank Crane Arena.
 
Silvan Harper and Evan Stack scored for the Cents (26-12-2-5) while Brendan Lamont, Chad Brears and Dylan Chanter each earned an assist apiece for the night. 
 
Dan Correale scored twice for Nanaimo (19-15-0-7) and Brendan Taylor scored once.
 
Lino Chimienti made 33 saves for Merritt in the loss.
 
The Centennials couldn't take advantage of any of their man advantage opportunities and went 0-for-5 while Nanaimo when 1-for-6 on the power play.
 
With the loss, the Cents have just eight regulation losses in their last 38 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, twelve points ahead of Prince George and twelve ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 17 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is at home on Wednesday, January 25th against the Penticton Vees at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
