Cents Back on Track With a 4-1 Win Over Victoria

Merritt, BC – January 21, 2012
 
Chad Brears was first star with two goals and an assist for the Merritt Centennials in their win against the Victoria Grizzlies 4-1 in BC Hockey League action on Saturday night at the Bear Mountain Arena.
 
Regan Soquila scored the Cents (26-11-2-5) their first shorthanded goal of the season and also earned points for an assist. Ross Mancuso scored his first BCHL career goal while Billy Marshall, Evan Stack, Dylan Chanter and Brendan Lamont all earned an assist apiece for the night. 
 
Coltyn Hansen scored the lone goal for Victoria (18-26-0-0) despite the Grizzlies out-shooting the Cents in both the second and third periods.
 
Tyler Steel made 27 saves for Merritt in the win while Grizzlies goaltender Garrett Rockafellow stopped 26 Cents shots.
 
The Centennials went 1-for-3 on the power play while Victoria couldn't take advantage of any of their four man advantage opportunities.
 
With the win, the Cents have just seven regulation losses in their last 37 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, twelve points ahead of Prince George and thirteen ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 15 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is on Sunday, January 22nd against the Nanaimo Clippers at the Frank Crane Arena.
