Cents Bitten by the Bulldogs and Lose 3-2

The Cents couldn't maintain their winning streak on the road and lost to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 3-2 in BC Hockey League action on Friday night at the Weyerhaeuser Arena.
 
Evan Stack scored both goals for the Cents (25-11-2-5) in the third period to tie the game after spending the first two periods scoreless. Regan Soquila, Brandon Pfeil and Reece Willcox each earned an assist apiece for the night. 
 
Turner Popoff and Trent Dorais both scored for Alberni (15-22-2-0) while Walker Hyland scored the game winning goal with just 4 seconds left on the clock.
 
Lino Chimienti made 32 saves for Merritt in the loss while Bulldogs goaltender Cameron Large stopped 38 Cents shots.
 
Both teams went 1-for-4 on the power play with Alberni getting their power play goal late in the first and the Cents getting theirs late in the third. 
 
With the loss, the Cents have just seven regulation losses in their last 36 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, ten points ahead of Prince George and eleven ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 17 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is on Saturday, January 21st against the Victoria Grizzlies at the Bear Mountain Arena.
