Cents Get Bitten by the Vipers and Lose 4-0 in Vernon

Merritt, BC – February 3, 2012
 
Goaltender Kirby Halcrow stopped all 41 Cents shots for a shutout as the Merritt Centennials lost to the Vernon Vipers 4-0 in BC Hockey League action on Friday night at the Wesblid Centre.
 
The Cents (26-15-2-5) couldn't take advantage of any of their offensive opportunities despite outshooting the Vipers 41-28. 
 
Adam Tambellini lead Vernon (22-20-1-2) with a goal and an assist. Goals also went to John Knisley, Michael Zalewski and Jedd Soleway.
 
Lino Chimienti made 25 saves for Merritt in the loss.
 
The Centennials went 0-for-7 on the power play while the Vipers went 2-for-6 on their man advantage opportunities. 
 
With the loss, the Cents now have eleven regulation losses in their last 41 games but continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, seven points ahead of Prince George and eight points ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 25 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is on Saturday, February 4th against the Westside Warriors at Royal LePage Place.
