Cents Strive to Improve After a Disappointing 4-1 Loss to Chilliwack

Goaltender Bryton Udy stopped 42 Cents shots as the Merritt Centennials lost to the Chilliwack Chiefs 4-1 in BC Hockey League action on Friday night at the Prospera Centre.

 

Evan Stack scored the lone goal for the Centennials (26-14-2-5) with an assist from Chad Brears. Despite the lone goal the Cents outshot the Chiefs 43-30. 

 

Spencer Graboski lead Chilliwack (23-17-1-2) with a goal and an assist. Goals also went to Matthew Hutchinson, David Bondra and Kody Dhaliwal.

 

Tyler Steel made 26 saves for Merritt in the loss.

 

Both the Centennials and the Chiefs went 1-for-3 on the power play and both took advantage of their extra man in the third period. 

 

With the loss, the Cents have just ten regulation losses in their last 40 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, ten points ahead of Chilliwack and twelve points ahead of Prince George. Merritt is 21 points behind first place Penticton.

 

The Centennials next game is on Friday, February 3rd against the Vernon Vipers at the Wesbild Centre.
