Cents Fall 6-1 to Penticton

The Merritt Centennials three game winning streak came to an end with a 6-1 loss to Penticton Friday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

Jeff Jones scored the lone goal for the Centennials to extend his point streak to eight games. Evan Stack and Brandon Pfeil each had an assist in the loss.

Troy Stetcher led the Vees with a goal and two assists while Brendan O'Donnell had a pair of goals in the win. Joey Holka had a goal and an assist for Penticton and Mark MacMillan chipped in with two assists.

Lino Chimienti took the loss for Merritt, making eleven saves before leaving with 3:18 to go in the second period due to an injury. Tyler Steel came on in relief and kicked out eleven of 12 Vees shots in 23:18 of action. Joel Rumpel made 34 saves for Penticton as the Centennials outshot the Vees 35-28.

Merritt finished the game 1-for-8 on the power play while Penticton was 2-for-6 on the man advantage.
