Cents Beat Westside 3-1

West Kelowna, BC – December 10, 2010

The Merritt Centennials scored three unanswered goals to improve to 3-0 on the season against the Westside Warriors with a 3-1 win Friday night at Royal LePage Place.

Jeff Jones paced the Cents with two goals while Regan Soquila and Evan Stack chipped in with two assists each as the top line combined for six points. Merritt captain Steve Tresierra also scored and Steve Wall notched an assist.

Max French supplied the lone goal for the Warriors in the loss.

Tyler Steel made 24 saves for the Centennials in the win and Westside netminder Kevin Boyle kicked out 32 Merritt shots in the loss.

The Cents finished the night 1-for-5 on the power play while the Warriors wound up 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Merritt was inspired by a group of 40-50 fans who made the trip to West Kelowna on the second fan bus of the season and the Cents showed their appreciation by saluting the fans at the end of the game.

These two teams meet once again Saturday night in Merritt at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
