Cents dumped 7-2 by Surrey

Steve Koshey set up three goals as the Surrey Eagles soared past the Merritt Centennials for a 7-2 win in BC Hockey League action Saturday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

Mitch Jones, with two, Daniel Gentzler, Brad McGowan, Beau Orser, Jeff Vanderlugt, and Brandon Morley all contributed to the Eagles' (31-16-1-2) well-rounded offence.

Jeff Jones and Jon-Paul Witkop scored for Merritt (19-24-1-6). Max Vallis, Regan Soquila, David Sabey and Kameran Crawford each had assists for the Cents in the loss.

Andrew Hunt stopped 39 shots for the win in goal for Surrey. Lino Chimienti stopped 23 of 30 Eagles' shots for the Centennials.

Merritt spent 51 minutes in the penalty box and Surrey had 44 minutes in penalties in a game that got chippy at times as the two teams met for the second time in 24 hours.

The Eagles finished 3-for-9 on the power play while the Centennials were 1-for-8 with the man advantage.

Merritt's next game is Sunday afternoon at 2 pm against Prince George at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. It's Family Day so two adults and two kids can get in for just $20!
