Surrey, BC – January 28, 2011
Karel St-Laurent stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Merritt Centennials were shutout 4-0 by the Surrey Eagles in BC Hockey League play Friday night.
Jeff Vanderlugt and Robert Lindores each had a goal and two assists for Surrey (30-16-1-2) while Linden Saip and Beau Orser also scored.
Tyler Steel was good in goal for Merritt (19-23-1-6), making 37 saves as the Centennials are now winless in three.
Saip scored what proved to be the winner at 14:08 of the first period on a power play.
Surrey went 1-for-3 with the man advantage while Merritt was 0-for-3 on their power plays. The Eagles outshot the Cents 41-25.
The two teams meet once again Saturday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Game time is 7:30 pm.
