Cents Downed 8-1 in Nanaimo

Nanaimo, BC – November 18, 2009

Nicholas McIntyre, Kyle Kramer and Braden Jaw each notched a goal and an assist to lead the Nanaimo Clippers to an 8-1 victory over the visiting Merritt Centennials on Wednesday.

Matt Ius, Colton Cyr, Cody Bremner, Sam Waterfield and Teal Burns also scored for the Clippers (12-8-1-4), who scored three goals in a 1:15 stretch of the second period to give themselves a quick 5-1 lead. Loic Boivin made just 10 saves in 40 minutes of action to record the win. Mark Segal came in to start the third for Nanaimo and made 11 saves on 11 shots.

Dustin Johnson scored for the Centennials (8-16-0-1), who are now winless in ten games away from the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Cole Holowenko made 46 saves in a losing cause.

Merritt went 0-for-5 on the man advantage while Nanaimo was 2-for-11 on the power play.

The Centennials continue their five game road trip Friday night in Cowichan Valley against the Capitals while the Clippers next action is also Friday, in Alberni Valley.
