Cents Beat Chilliwack 5-1 to Bring Their Winning Streak to Five

Tyler Martin earned the first star of the night with a goal and an assist  for the Merritt Centennials in their win against the Chilliwack Chiefs 5-1 in BC Hockey League action on Saturday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
 
Along with Martin, Brandon Bruce, Brayden Low, Brendan Lamont and Chad Brears all scored a goal apiece for the Cents (23-10-2-5). Billy Marshall earned two assists while Dylan Chanter, Richard Sabourin, Carter Shinkaruk, Reece Willcox and Regan Soquila each also had an assist.  
 
Kody Dhaliwal earned the lone goal for Chilliwack (20-15-0-2).
 
Tyler Steel made 22 saves for Merritt in the win while the Chiefs goaltenders split the duty with Mitch Gilliam making 5 saves for 8 shots before Bryton Udy took over to stop 30 Cents shots.
 
The Centennials went 1-for-6 on the power play while Chilliwack couldn't take advantage of any of their five man advantage opportunities.
 
With the win, the Cents have just six regulation losses in their last 33 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, ten points ahead of Prince George and eleven ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 19 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is at home on Sunday, January 15th against the Langley Rivermen at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
