Merritt BC – The Merritt Centennials organization is proud to announce that former Centennials defenceman Jake Clifford (‘94) has been named Athlete Scholar Of The Year for the Arizona State University Sun Devils.
Clifford, a native of Breksville Ohio, played with the Centennials from 2013 until 2015, playing a total of 102 BCHL games, notching 12 goals and 32 assists while earning 106 penalty minutes. Clifford has been with the Sun Devils for the past three seasons.
So far with the Sun Devils, Clifford has played a total of 63 games while scoring two goals and earning himself eight assists along with 71 penalty minutes.
To be eligible to be named for the Arthur Ashe Jr Male Division I Hockey Scholar of the Year, players must maintain an average of 3.2, be a sophomore academically and be involved on campus or in the community; Clifford is currently majoring in Business Communications and maintains a GPA of 3.43.
