The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce that former player Bill Birks has been hired as an assistant coach by the BCHL's Trail Smoke Eaters.
Birks, 42, played for three seasons in Merritt from 1986-89 before moving onto the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL in 1989-90 season, where he played eight games.
Most recently, Birks served as an assistant coach for the Cents from 2007-09.
The entire Centennials organization would like to wish Bill the best of luck in Trail.
