Five BCHL Coastal Teams to Host Redhawks

Burnaby, BC – November 18th, 2010

The British Columbia Hockey League welcomes the Malmo Redhawks junior team from Malmo, Sweden for a five-city tour that beginning on December 31st in Powell River and concluding in Cowichan Valley on January 5th.

Malmo competes in Sweden?s J20 SuperElit League, which is the highest-level junior league in the country. The Redhawks have been a stepping stone for many future National Hockey League players, including Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen, Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Kim Johnsson and Edmonton Oilers rookie Magnus Paajarvi.

The Redhawks begin their five-game tour of the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island when they face the Powell River Kings on December 31st. Visits to the Nanaimo Clippers on January 1st, Alberni Valley Bulldogs on January 2nd, Victoria Grizzlies on January 4th and Cowichan Valley Capitals on January 5th follow.
