Steve Wall notched the winner with 2:12 left in the third period and added an assist as the Merritt Centennials edged Alberni Valley 4-3 in BC Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
Captain Steve Tresierra had two goals and an assist for Merritt (20-27-1-6) while Jeff Jones added a goal and an assist in the win. Evan Stack contributed two assists and Regan Soquila also had an assist.
Dylan Nowakowski had two goals and an assist for Alberni Valley (22-26-4-3). Casey Bailey posted a goal and an assist while Josh Mitchell chipped in with a pair of helpers.
Centennials netminder Lino Chimienti stopped 20 shots for his 13th win of the season. Frank Slubowski made 28 saves for the Bulldogs.
Merritt finished the day 1-for-6 on the power play. Alberni Valley went 2-for-6 on the man advantage.
The Cents next game is Wednesday in Westside against the Warriors.
