Cents trip Quesnel 4-3 in overtime

January 21, 2011 – Quesnel, BC

Max Vallis' overtime goal powered the Merritt Centennials past the Quesnel Millionaires 4-3 in BC Hockey League action Friday night at The Vault.

Evan Stack, Regan Soquila and Dustin Lebrun scored in regulation time for Merritt (18-21-0-6). Stack's goal came on the power play. Jeff Jones finished with three assists and J.P. Witkop, with his first career BCHL points, had two assists as well. Stack also added an assist.

Skyler Smutek and Michael Spring staked Quesnel (11-30-2-5) to a 2-0 lead by the 10:08 mark of the second period. That lead slipped away though, setting the stage for Soquila and Stack to score and tie the game after Thomas Hardy had put the Millionaires ahead 3-1.

Lino Chimienti earned the win for Merritt with 27 saves, while Bryton Udy stopped 27 shots for the Mills.

The Centennials went 1-for-5 with the man advantage, while Quesnel scored once on three opportunities.

Merritt's next game is Saturday in Prince George. The Millionaires are off until Sunday, when they host the Cents in a return match-up of Friday's game.
