Cents taken down 2-1 by the Chiefs

Chilliwack, BC – December 7, 2011

Mitch Gillam made 40 saves as the Chilliwack Chiefs beat the Merritt Centennials 2-1 in BC Hockey League action on Wednesday night at the Prospera Centre.

Billy Marshall scored the lone goal for Merritt (15-8-2-4) on a power play during the second period. Richard Sabourin and Jakob Reichert each had an assist on the goal.

Michael Spring and David Bondra each scored for Chilliwack (16-9-0-1) while Josh Hansen, Tyler Miller and Malcolm Gould each took an assist.

Tyler Steel made 28 saves for Merritt in the loss.

The Centennials went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Chiefs went 1-for-2 with their man advantage opportunities.

Despite the loss, the Cents have just four regulation losses in their last 22 games and sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, three points ahead of Chilliwack. Merritt is 14 points behind first place Penticton.

The Centennials next game is in Prince George on Friday, December 9th.
