Brandon Pfeil scored at 1:45 of overtime as the Merritt Centennials snapped their three game winless streak with a 4-3 win over Vernon Friday at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
Michael Zalewski, John Knisley and Todd Skirving staked the Vipers to a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes of action.
Steve Tresierra, Jeff Jones and Sean Maktaak scored for the Cents in a span of less than seven minutes in the third period to send the game to overtime and set up Pfeil's heroics.
Regan Soquila, Reece Willcox, Evan Stack, Chad Brears and Brent Fletcher each had an assist for Merritt while Tresierra, Maktaak and Pfeil each also chipped in with helpers.
Tyler Steel made 26 saves for the Centennials to pick up his third win of the season while Blake Voth kicked out 34 shots for Vernon in the loss.
Merritt went 2/7 on the power play while the Vipers were 1/4.
