Cents fall 5-3 to Salmon Arm

Merritt, BC – December 16, 2011

 

Adam Clark made 34 saves as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks beat the Merritt Centennials 5-3 in BC Hockey League action on Friday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

 

The Cents (17-10-2-4) scored a goal per period with Sean Maktaak scoring in the first, Evan Stack in the second and Brandon Pfeil in the third. Brandon Bruce, Dylan Chanter, Reece Willcox, Regan Soquila and Chad Brears all received points for assists. 

 

Morgan Zulin lead Salmon Arm (11-15-0-5) with two goals while Myles McCauley, Graham McBain and Sean Flanagan each scored a goal apiece for the Silverbacks.

 

Lino Chimienti made 29 saves for Merritt in the loss.

 

The Centennials went 2-for-3 on the power play while the Silverback went 1-for-4 on their three man advantage opportunities.

 

With the loss, the Cents have just six regulation losses in their last 26 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, two points ahead of Chilliwack and seven ahead of Vernon and Prince George. Merritt is 20 points behind first place Penticton.

 

The Centennials next game is on Saturday, December 17th against the Westside Warriors at Royal LePage Place.
