Cents Dumped 6-1 in Victoria

Victoria, BC – November 20, 2010

The Merritt Centennials were unable to build on a 3-0 win in Nanaimo on Friday and fell 6-1 to the Victoria Grizzlies Saturday at Bear Mountain Arena.

Max Vallis scored the lone goal for the Cents on a power play with Kameran Crawford and Jeff Jones drawing assists.

Joel Lowry led the Grizzlies with a goal and two assists, Wesley Myron chipped in with a pair of goals while David Morley and Wade Murphy notched singles.

Tyler Steel went the distance in goal for Merritt, making 39 saves in the loss while Cam Gorchynski made 44 saves for Victoria to earn his first win since being acquired from Westside.

The Centennials went 1/6 on the power play. The Grizzlies went 3/5.

The Cents remain winless in BC's capital city since November 19, 2004 and haven't beat Victoria overall since December 10, 2006. The Grizzlies finish a three game homestand with a perfect record.

Merritt's next game is Sunday in Port Alberni against the Bulldogs to wrap up their four game Island road trip.
