Cents Double Salmon Arm 4-2

Merritt, BC – October 14, 2011

Billy Marshall had a goal and an assist the Merritt Centennials defeated the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-2 in the BC Hockey League Friday night.

Brent Fletcher, Richard Sabourin and Evan Stack, on a third period penalty shot, also scored for Merritt (3-4-1-2), while Ross Mancuso, Jakob Reichert and Sean Maktaak each had assists.

Braden Pears and Bryce Gervais tallied for the Silverbacks (2-6-0-1), who got 40 saves from rookie Adam Clark.

Tyler Steel made 23 saves in the win for Merritt.

The Centennials finished 1-for-6 on the power play while Salmon Arm wound up 2-for-7 with the man advantage.

Merritt's Annual Parents' Weekend continues with the annual Icebreaker fundraiser Saturday night at the Civic Centre and the Cents next game is Sunday afternoon agaist Chilliwack at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
