Cents Couldn’t Beat The Streak and Lose to The Vees 4-1

Merritt, BC – December 13, 2011
 
Michael Garteig made 31 saves as the Penticton Vees took down the Merritt Centennials 4-1 in BC Hockey League action on Tuesday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
 
Chad Brears scored the lone goal for Merritt (17-9-2-4) on a power play during the third period. Regan Soquila and Brandon Pfeil each had an assist on the goal.
 
Bryce Gervais lead Penticton (28-3-0-2) with two goals while Ryan Reilly and Joey Benik each scored a goal apiece for the Vees.
 
Lino Chimienti made 29 saves for Merritt in the loss and earned the 2nd star for his efforts.
 
The Centennials went 1-for-2 on the power play while the Vees failed to score on any of their three man advantage opportunities.
 
With the loss, the Cents have just five regulation losses in their last 25 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, three points ahead of Chilliwack and nine ahead of Vernon. Merritt is 18 points behind first place Penticton.
 
The Centennials next game is at home on Friday, December 16th against Salmon Arm at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
