Cents Beat Chilliwack 4-1, Move Into 2nd in Interior Conference

Merritt, BC – November 18, 2011

Regan Soquila's goal 11:05 into the second period stood up as the winner as the Merritt Centennials posted a 4-1 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs in a BC Hockey League game on Friday night.

Billy Marshall, Brandon Bruce, and Evan Stack also scored for the Cents (11-5-1-4). Stack, Silvan Harper, Brent Fletcher, Brandon Pfeil and Richard Sabourin each had an assist in the win.

Malcolm Gould scored the lone goal for the Chiefs (11-7-0-1).

Lino Chimienti finished with 31 saves for Merritt to get the win as Mitch Gillam stopped 29 shots in defeat for Chilliwack.

The Centennials went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Chiefs were 0-for-3 on their man avdantages.

The Cents now have just one regulation loss in their last 14 games and sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, one point ahead of Vernon and four points in front of Chilliwack. Merritt is seven points behind first place Penticton.

The Centennials next game is first vs. second showdown against Penticton at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday, November 19th.
