Cents Acquire Three From Nanaimo

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce the acquisition of three players from the Nanaimo Clippers.

The Cents first acquired the rights to 20-year-old defenceman Connor Krukowski from the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League as the future considerations in the deal that saw 20-year-old forward Erick Ruud traded back in January. They then dealt the rights to Krukowski to Nanaimo in exchange for 20-year-old forward Paul Forster, 18-year-old forward Dustin Johnson, and 18-year-old defenceman Ryan Bradley.

Forster, a North Vancouver product, is entering his fourth BCHL season after splitting the last three years with Burnaby, Westside, and Salmon Arm. He has 42 points and 150 penalty minutes in 109 career games of junior 'A' hockey.

Johnson, from Penticton, is a highly touted prospect after being recruited by Nanaimo from the Summerland Sting of the KIJHL last season. He played 35 games of junior 'B' hockey, posting 58 points, including a five goal, two assist game on October 19th against Grand Forks. Johnson had seven points in 22 games split between Nanaimo and Penticton in the BCHL.

Bradley, who is from Nanaimo, made his junior 'A' debut last season and had three assists in 38 games with the Clippers. He played with the North Island Silvertips of the BC Major Midget League in 06/07, chipping with 35 points.

The entire Centennials organization would like to welcome all three players to Merritt and look forward to seeing them on the ice for training camp in August.
