Centennials Fans Give Forward To Food Bank

In a partnership with Murray GM in Merritt, the Merritt Centennials and Cents fans came together to raise $250.00 on Saturday night for the Nicola Valley & District Food Bank as a part of the home opener tailgate party.

Assistant Coach Joe Martin says that the organization is glad to give back to the community where ever it can, "giving back to people in need throughout our community is something that comes as a part of being a Merritt Centennial."

"We were happy to do what we could to help the Nicola Valley & District Food Bank at our home opener, and we will be supporting them once again come the holiday season." Martin concluded.

Despite the on-ice result seeing the Cents fall 4-3 to West Kelowna, off-ice, the game was an all around success with 790 fans filling the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

The Centennials return home on Friday, September 20th to host the Trail Smoke Eaters, while they visit Trail this Tuesday, September 17th. Both games begin at 7:30 with the Q101 broadcast beginning at 7:00.
