Team Canada West camp roster includes 18 from the BCHL

There will be 18 players from the BCHL among the hopefuls for Team Canada West and the 2015 World Junior A Challenge (WJAC).

Among those chosen to attend is Merritt Centennials very own Forward, #11 Colin Grannary, who will be competing for a spot on the team against the best that Western Canada has to offer. The camp, being held in Leduc Aberta will be from December 5th to 8th, 2015

So far in the 2015/16 season, as the Cents top scorer, Grannary boasts 17 goals and 17 assists for a total of 34 points.

The team will be selected from players from the BCHL, Alberta Junior Hockey League, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Manitoba Junior Hockey League and Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Team Canada West has won gold at the WJAC on three occasions, the last being in 2011 in Langley. The United States has claimed gold six times, including the last three years in a row. Only Canada West or the U.S. has ever won the event since its inception in 2006.

The 2015 WJAC will be co-hosted by Whitby and Cobourg, Ont. from Dec. 13 to 19.

Also representing the BCHL on Team Canada West will be league executive director Trevor Alto, who will be the team’s director of operations and Coquitlam Express head coach Barry Wolff who will be an assistant coach under Tim Fragle.
