Q&A With Cents Forward Silvan Harper

This is the second installment of getting to know some of the Cents players who'll be returning with the team this season.

Today, it's 1992-born forward, #26 ? Silvan Harper.

Harper is entering his second season with the Centennials after finishing fourth in team rookie scoring with 16 points in 59 games. The Coquitlam product was second on the Cents in penalty minutes with 96 and quickly became a fan favourite in Merritt because of his rambunctious and physical style of play.

Cents:  How has your summer gone so far?

Silvan: My summer?s been great? I?ve been working at my local arena and pool in addition to training for the season.

Cents:  Has your training changed from last summer to this summer at all?

Silvan: A little bit. I?ve been more focused using my strength and turning it into foot speed and having a strong core.

Cents:  Has your nutrition changed at all?

Silvan: Not really, I?ve just been eating lean meats and starting to eat some salads now ? haha! I have been laying off the fast food though.

Cents: Did Coach Pierce tell you anything to work on specifically in the off-season?

Silvan: He just told me to keep my work ethic up and to pick up my first three steps.

Cents: How do you think you can continue to develop from the experience after Coach Pierce took over last season?

Silvan: I just want to keep taking in the influence and experience Coach Pierce gives us. I?d like to develop into a leader and be the type of influence which guys like Jordan Soquila and Alex Valenti were to me.

Cents: Are you excited to play against any team in particular this season?

Silvan: Trail because of our rivalry with them, Vernon because they?re the defending RBC champions, and of course, Penticton after they knocked us out of the playoffs.

Cents: Is there anyone in hockey you kind of model your game after?

Silvan: I like to think of myself as a Matt Cooke-type player, with a bit more skill and not as dirty as he is.

Cents: Thanks for this Silvan and all the fans here in Merritt are looking forward to your second season in a Centennials jersey.

Silvan: Me too, thanks.
