Hockey in the Nicola Valley (1921-1940)
1921
The first two games of the hockey season were well attended by eager cheering fans. The first, played between Nicola Valley and Merritt, resulted in a 7-6 score in Merritt’s favour. The second game, between Nicola Valley and Middlesboro, ended with the score of 9-1 for Nicola Valley.

1922
Middlesboro defeats Nicola Valley in hockey at the first game of the season.

1923
Merritt is officially granted affiliation with the BC Amateur Hockey Association.

1934
Warm temperatures caused hockey officials to keep a close eye on ice levels for the provincial international playoffs, in which Merritt participated.

1935
Merritt played in the second game of the BC Intermediate hockey playoffs against Vernon, but sadly lost with a final score of 3-2.

1936
Merritt Hockey Club wins Coy Cup as BC Senior B Provincial Champions.

1937
The Merritt Hockey Midgets win the Cromie Memorial Trophy.
The 1937-38 Merritt hockey team wins the intermediate championship in the Nicola-Similkameen section.

1939
The battle for the Coy Cup and provincial championship was held in Merritt, however the local intermediate hockey team lost to Blakeburn by a score of 2-1.
