The Merritt Centennials organization is proud and extremely excited to announce that forward Henry Cleghorn has committed to SUNY-Geneso (NCAA Div. III) for the 2018-19 season.
”I’m very excited to be joining the Geneseo Knights next season, they have a great hockey program and an older team and I believe I can fit in well with their group,” said Cleghorn. ”Merritt has been my home for three years and I can’t thank my billets, coaches and teammates enough for supporting me and making me feel welcome. I will always be thankful for my time there and I will cherish the friendships I have made forever. What an amazing place to play junior hockey.”
Cleghorn played a total of 163 BCHL games in a Centennials uniform, notching 43 goals and 58 assists. He led the Centennials in points this season and also served as one of the assistant captains.
”We’re very happy for Henry. He left his jersey in a great spot,” said Head Coach and GM Joe Martin. ”I’ll remember him well as a Centennial and will always be able to hear him in the dressing room. We wish him the very best of luck.”
“‘Clegs’ commitment is a great opportunity for himself to showcase his talents at the collegiate level,” added Cents Assistant Coach Brandon Shaw. “He worked all year, day in and day out, for his success and expect he will do the same at the college level and see the same results. This is well deserved and we wish him all the best.”
