Cents Win Fourth Straight, 7-4 Over Prince George

Merritt, BC – November 11, 2011

Chad Brears and Regan Soquila each scored twice Friday night to lead the Merritt Centennials to a 7-4 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings in BC Hockey League action at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

Evan Stack, Sean Maktaak, and Brayden Low also scored for the Centennials (10-5-1-3). Stack had three assists to go along with his goal while Brears and Soquila notched a pair of helpers each. Low, Billy Marshall, Dylan Chanter and Silvan Harper each had single assists in the win.

Paul De Jersey posted two goals and two assists, Stefan Bazar a goal and three assists and Michael Colantone a goal and an assists for the Spruce Kings (7-8-1-2).

Lino Chimienti picked up the with for Merritt with a 25 save effort while Marcus Beesley and Kirk Thompson shared the netminding duties for Prince George, making 25 saves collectively in the loss.

The Centennials went 1-for-3 on the power play, the Spruce Kings was 1-for-2 on their man advantage chances.

With the win, the Cents now have just one regulation loss in their last twelve games and sit in third place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, three points ahead of Chilliwack and seven points in front of Westside and Prince George. Merritt is tied with second place Vernon and four points behind first place Penticton.

The Centennials next game is against Prince George at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena on Thursday, November 17th.
