Cents Triumph Over Salmon Arm With a 5-2 Win

Merritt, BC – March 6, 2012

Evan Stack got a hat trick for the Merritt Centennials as they took
down the Salmon Arm Silverbacks with a 5-2 win in BC Hockey League
action on Tuesday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.

Evan Stack earned the first star for the Centennials (32-18-2-6) with
a goal in each period for the hat trick. Brandon Bruce and Jakob
Reichert also scored for the Cents, Reichert on the power play. Chad
Brears earned the second star by having an assist in each of Stack's
three goals. Assists for the night also went to Ross Mancuso, Carter
Shinkaruk, Regan Soquila, Sean Maktaak, Richard Sabourin and Brandon
Pfeil.

Shane Hanna put Salmon Arm (16-34-0-8) on the board late in the first
period. Morgan Zulinick scored the other goal for the Silverbacks on
the power play.

Lino Chimienti made 20 saves for Merritt in the win while Salmon Arm
goalie Adam Clark had his work cutout for him, stopping 36 Cents
attempts.

The Centennials went 2-for-9 on the power play while the Silverbacks
didn't fare much better with their chances, going 1-for-4 on their man
advantage opportunities.

With the win, the Cents now have just fourteen regulation losses in
their last 51 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's
Interior Conference, two points ahead of Prince George and six points
ahead of Chilliwack.

The Centennials next game is on Friday, March 9th against the Trail
Smoke Eaters at the Cominco Arena.
