Cents Pull a Point From Penticton With a 2-1 Double OT Loss

The Merritt Centennials picked up a point but couldn't make it two in their  2-1 double overtime loss against the Penticton Vees in BC Hockey League action on Saturday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
 
Sean Maktaak scored the only goal for the Centennials (30-17-2-6) with assists from Brandon Bruce and Billy Marshall. 
 
Mike Reilly tied it up for Penticton (48-3-0-2) late in the second period and Travis St Denis scored the game winning goal with just 45 seconds left in double OT. 
 
Tyler Steel earned the second star, making an amazing 44 saves for Merritt in the loss while Vees Goaltender Michael Garteig stopped 33 Cents attempts.
 
The Centennials went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Vees went 1-for-4 on their man-advantage opportunities.
 
With the loss, the Cents now have just thirteen regulation losses in their last 48 games and continue to sit in second place in the BCHL's Interior Conference, two points ahead of Prince George and eight points ahead of Chilliwack.
 
The Centennials next game is on Wednesday, February 29th against the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Cominco Arena.
