Cents Prepare for 37th BCHL Season

The Merritt Centennials are preparing for the start of their 37th season in the BCHL this Friday at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena against the Trail Smoke Eaters. The Cents are coming off a 1-4-0-0 pre-season which culminated with a 6-5 loss in West Kelowna to the Warriors on Sunday.

The team is down to 24 players on the roster, including three goaltenders. “Ideally we'd like to be down to 22 players by Friday,” said Cents GM and assistant coach Tyler Forsythe. “There are still players that we're evaluating and we hope that the players still with us make these final few cuts difficult to make.”

The Centennials open the 2009-10 season against the exact same team they ended the 2008-09 season against, the Trail Smoke Eaters. Faceoff is 7:30 Friday night with a special season-opening tailgate party starting at 5 o'clock.
