The Merritt Centennials played their annual intrasquad game Friday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. 38 Cents hopefuls took to the ice that saw Team White skate away with an 8-3 victory over Team Black. The Centennials coaching staff now has the daunting task of reducing the team's roster to no more than 23 players for the regular season opener on home ice on Friday September vs. Trail.
Colton Sobchak (90) led White with a hat trick and an assist while Shawn Maktaak (92) had three assists. Derek Hills (90) and Kameran Crawford (91) also each notched a goal and an assist in the win. Michael Tomescu (91) didn't allow any goals for Team White after coming in midway through the second period. Alex Valenti (89) led the way for Team Black with two goals. The game featured a fight between Ryan Aynsley (90) and Hills and one between Alessio Tomassetti (89) and Maktaak. Dustin Johnson (90) dropped the gloves twice, once with Crawford and once with Matt Mazzarolo (90).
