Cents nipped 4-3 in overtime by Salmon Arm in Game Three

Paul DeJersey scored 8:59 into overtime as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks slipped by the Merritt Centennnials 4-3 in Game Three of their BC Hockey League Interior Conference Quarterfinal series Monday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. The win gives Salmon Arm a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Devin Gannon scored twice, including once shorthanded, for Salmon Arm (3-0), while Brett Knowles had a goal and three assists to pace the Silverbacks attack. Knowles leads the BCHL in playoff scoring with eight points in three games.

Jeff Jones forced overtime for Merritt (0-3) and added an assist. Regan Soquila also had a goal and an assist in the loss while Evan Stack chipped in with three helpers. Kameran Crawford had a single for the Centennials.    

Kris Moore made 35 saves to earn the win for Salmon Arm, while Tyler Steel stopped 28 shots for the Cents. Lino Chimienti, who started the game for Merritt, was pulled 28 seconds into the second period. He made nine saves on 11 shots.

The Centennials were 2-for-7 with the man advantage and the Silverbacks went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Merritt hosts Game Four Tuesday at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Game time is 7 pm and reserved seating tickets are available starting at 1:30 pm at the Memorial Arena Box Office.
