Rookie forward Silvan Harper one-timed a shot between the legs of Kiefer Smiley at 2:53 of overtime to give the Merritt Centennials a 4-3 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters Wednesday night in BC Hockey League action.
Andrew Pickering, Dustin Johnson and Derek Hills also scored for Merritt (15-23-0-2). Hills also added two assists while Cents captain Jordan Soquila chipped in with three helpers. Keith Hamilton made 41 saves for Merritt to record his seventh win of the season.
Scott Jacklin had a goal and two assists while Sam Mellor and Darnell Dyck also added markers in regulation for the Smoke Eaters (12-25-1-2). Smiley wound up with 26 saves on 30 Centennials shots.
