Cents Name Dylan Forsythe Head Coach & Assistant GM

MERRITT, BC – August 18, 2009

The Merritt Centennials have appointed Dylan and Tyler Forsythe to form the team's new coaching and management team, the club announced Tuesday. Dylan Forsythe will serve as the Cents head coach and assistant general manager while Tyler has been brought on board as general manager and assistant coach.

Dylan comes to Merritt following assistant coaching stints with the AJHL's Sherwood Park Crusaders and the MJHL's Neepawa Natives. Tyler, who also worked with the Crusaders as a goaltending coach, has an extensive background in scouting at the Junior A level in Western Canada.

“We are excited to have Dylan and Tyler on board and we feel like they will be an excellent fit moving forward as they lead the Centennials,” team governor Brian Barrett said of the hires. “Both Dylan and Tyler are hard workers with good hockey experience. They'll work closely together in all aspects of our operations.”

“Both Tyler and I are looking forward to the challenge of re-establishing the proud tradition of Centennials hockey in Merritt,” Dylan Forsythe said. “Our goal as we move forward is to ice a team capable of making the playoffs, which would be a solid start for the franchise and its fans.”

“We want to establish Merritt as a place where players can grow and develop in a winning environment,” Tyler Forsythe explained. “We're excited to see what the players can do when camp begins next week and I know they are looking forward to coming in with a fresh start and making a good first impression.”
