Cents Make a Trio of Moves

Merritt, BC – December 1, 2009

The Merritt Centennials made three player moves ahead of Tuesday's Hockey Canada carding deadline.

The Cents traded the junior 'A' rights to forward Cole Penner (91) to Camrose of the AJHL for future considerations. Penner was acquired in September from Grand Prairie of the AJHL for the rights to defenceman Matt Cumming (91).

The Cents also granted the release of forward Kevin Philp (90). Philp had been nursing a shoulder injury and has decided to retire.

The Cents released forward Joey McEwan (89). McEwan, who Merritt signed during training camp after he was released by the Victoria Grizzlies, had two assists in 24 games with the Cents this season.

The entire Centennials organization would like to thank Cole, Kevin and Joey for their contributions to the hockey club and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
