The Merritt Centennials closed out a four game home stand with a 5-0 loss to Powell River Friday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
Chad Niddery and Andrew Pettitt each had a goal and an assist for Powell River while Justin Dasilva chipped in with two assists.
Centennials netminder Lino Chimienti stopped 28 shots in his third straight start for Merritt in the loss. Kings goaltender Sean Maguire made 23 saves for his shutout of his BCHL career and Powell River's fifth of the season overall.
The game featured two fights in the third period, one between Cents forward Silvan Harper and Kings defenceman Jason Yee and one between Merritt forward Chad Brears and Powell River forward Steven Schmidt.
With forwards Evan Stack and Stephen Wall out with injuries and forwards Sean Maktaak and Dylan Playfair suspended, local player Eric Schmidt made his BCHL debut with the Centennials as an affiliate player. Schmidt plays for the Merritt Midget Rep team.
Both teams went 0/3 on the power play.
