Cents Blanked 3-0 in Powell River

Powell River, BC – September 24, 2010

The Merritt Centennials received a heroic performance from goaltender Tyler Steel, but weren't able to provide any offensive support for the 17 year old as they were shutout 3-0 by the Powell River Kings on Friday night.

It's the first time this season the Cents have been shutout, but Steel earned first star honours with his 35 save effort.

Andrew Pettitt led the Kings with two assists while Powel River goals came from Cohen Adair, Justin Dasilva and Craig Dalrymple.

Merritt's power play went 0/5 on the night and allowed a shorthanded goal to Adair for what would turn out to be the winner for the Kings. Powell River was 1/5 with the man advantage.

Michael Garteig kicked out 19 Centennials shots for his second shutout of the season and third in his BCHL career.

Merritt continues its stretch of five away from home Saturday against the Express. It's the first time the Cents have played in Coquitlam in five years and represents a homecoming for forwards Silvan Harper, Justin Lachance and Dustin Lebrun, who all hail from the Vancouver suburb.
