BCHL Players do well at NHL Draft in Columbus

Pierro-Zabotel, McPherson, Winnett, Benn and Courtnall All Selected

The BCHL saw a total of 7 players selected at the NHL Entry Draft in Columbus as Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Corbin McPherson, Ben Winnett, Jamie Benn, and Justin Courtnall joined 1st round picks Kyle Turris and Riley Nash as draftees on Saturday.

In the 3rd round, Casey Pierro-Zabotel of the Merritt Centennials was selected 80th overall by the Pittsburgh Penquins and Cowichan Valley Capitals defenseman Corbin McPherson heard his name called 87th overall by the New Jersey Devils.

In the 4th, the Toronto Maple Leafs made Ben Winnett the 104th pick making Winnett the 2nd Salmon Arm Silverback to be selected in this years entry draft.

Jamie Benn of the Victoria Grizzlies went to the Dallas Stars in the 5th round, 129th overall. Justin Courtnall was the last BCHL player selected, going to Tampa Bay in the 7th round, 210th overall.
