New Recruit: Dylan Sydor

The Merritt Centennials are excited to announce that they’ve committed to forward Dylan Sydor (03) of the Thompson Blazers for the upcoming season.

A Kamloops local, Sydor impressed throughout the Cents Fall Evaluation Camp and earned himself a spot on the team. Last year with the Thompson Blazers U18 AAA program Sydor was nearly a point-per-game player with 17 goals and 20 assists in 40 games. For his performance throughout the year, Sydor was named Rookie of the Year, but also Most Inspirational for his upbeat attitude, positivity, and ability to be vocal and lift his teammates.

Head Coach and General Manager Derek Sweet-Coulter feels that Sydor will be a player who can make an impact now and continue to grow into the future.

“He has elite hockey sense and skill, great vision and we are extremely happy to have him in Merritt. He will be a special player for years to come.”

Sydor says that the longevity of the franchise and the connections he made at camp have him chomping at the bit.

“It’s been a long running organization, and a great group of guys I met at the camp. I’m excited to get there and get going as soon as I can.”

He adds that among his top tools that he will bring to the team is his ability to find his teammates in the right areas.

“For my game I mostly rely on my vision, how I see the ice, my playmaking abilities, try to get my guys open and send them in the right direction.”

The Cents would like to welcome Dylan and his family to the team and the Nicola Valley and look forward to his contributions to the team and community.

The Centennials continue to add players to their final roster before beginning their extended training camp.
