New Alignment Coming For 2020 Season

When the BCHL announced earlier this season that the Cranbrook Bucks would be entering the league next season as the 18th franchise, realignment was almost a foregone conclusion. The question was how.

The BCHL has announced that starting next year, the league will be split into two conferences comprised of 9 teams each.

The Merritt Centennials will remain in the Interior Conference with all their old rivals.

Interior Division

  • Merritt Centennials
  • Cranbrook Bucks (Inaugural Season)
  • Penticton Vees
  • Prince George Spruce Kings (from the Mainland Division)
  • Salmon Arm Silverbacks
  • Trail Smoke Eaters
  • Vernon Vipers
  • Wenatchee Wild
  • West Kelowna Warriors

The Coastal Conference will hold the old Island Division and the remaining mainland teams.

Coastal Conference

  • Alberni Valley Bulldogs
  • Chilliwack Chiefs
  • Coquitlam Express
  • Cowichan Valley Capitals
  • Langley Rivermen
  • Nanaimo Clippers
  • Powell River Kings
  • Surrey Eagles
  • Victoria Grizzlies

It was also announced that the schedule would be reduced from 58 to 54 games. The season will also begin later, with camps opening at the beginning of September and season openers at the end of the month.
