Merritt, BC – General Manager and Head Coach Joe Martin will have a chance to recapture gold.
Once again Martin has been named to Team Canada West to take part in the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge where he will serve as an Assistant Coach. This season the event will be held in Bonnyville, Alberta from December 9th to 15th.
Joining Martin on the coaching staff will be fellow BCHL Head Coach Brandon West of the Surrey Eagles who will also serve as an assistant. Both will support Rick Swan who will serve as Head Coach of Team Canada West and is also the Coach of the host AJHL’s Bonnyville Pontiacs.
Martin says that he always relishes the opportunity to compete at the highest levels.
“I’m looking forward to the selection camp and coaching against the best Junior ‘A’ players in some great hockey countries. I’m thankful to my Board of Directors who support me in joining Hockey Canada once again”
Team Canada West has won the tournament 7 times in its 12 year history.
