For the second year in a row the Merritt Centennials will be represented in two facets of Team Canada West.

Mathieu Gosselin has made the team after tryouts this week, and will join Head Coach Joe Martin, who will be behind the bench as an Assistant. Gosselin is have a whirlwind week and a great year. Earlier this week the Quebec City native announced his commitment to NCAA Division 1 hockey at Clarkson University, and now finds himself representing Canada on the International stage. Through 32 games this season for the Merritt Centennials Gosselin has scored 14 goals and added 22 assists and is tied for 12th in BCHL scoring.

Assistant Coach Brandon Shaw, acting Head Coach in the absence of Martin, says that it’s huge for the program to have the Cents well represented.

“It’s a great opportunity for them, it means a lot to the team to be represented on Team Canada West. We think they’ll both do great work there and be pushing for another gold.”

Team Canada West opens the tournament against Team USA on December 9th.
